Archana Vaidya

Archana is a NRM & environment law consultant and an advocate at the High Court of Himachal Pradesh at Shimla. She was one of the Founding Managing Partners of IELO, an environmental law firm and has worked extensively with FCO, DFID, multilateral agencies i.e. World Bank, UNEP, UNDP, IUCN, WWF, intergovernmental organisation IDLO, governments at federal and state level, NGOs and academic institutions on policy and legal issues related to various aspects of environment management and regulation. She has co-authored books on issues related to environmental governance and writes actively mostly on environmental legal issues in various newspapers, magazines and journals .

An LL.M. in Public International Law, she has taught post graduate diploma course in transboundary water management at ILI (a law University established under the aegis of Supreme Court of India), New Delhi as guest faculty and has been a resource person for ADB in SAARC, Asia region, for CSE, NALSAR, HP State Judicial Academy and Integrated Mountain Initiative. An alumni of Panjab University Chandigarh and HPU, she has been a recipient of  IVLP fellowship given by the State Department of the US government and was awarded the Gurukul Chevening fellowship at Oxford in 2019.

In her spare time she loves to read, cook, eat, watch good movies and documentaries, travel and spend time with her spouse and children, parents, friends and extended family. She has two sons and lives with her husband in Village Bajuara, District Kullu, Himachal Pradesh in the midst of fruit orchards.
